Here at DeLand Animal Hospital, we all strive to provide the excellent service you have come to expect from all of us. A major part of the Technicians’ duties is to provide exceptional care to our patients. Visits to the veterinary hospital can be stressful to pets and being hospitalized can be even more stressful. Our philosophy is to provide that care with the least amount of stress possible. This type of care comes from a combination of training in low-stress handling and restraint techniques, keen observation skills, instinct, and a genuine love for our patients. We believe that happy patients are healthier patients and we do everything we can to try to make your pet’s visit as pleasant as possible. It’s important for us to really understand our patients. We genuinely enjoy getting to know their personalities and preferences and our patients become a part of our extended family. After all, our Technicians spend nearly as much time with their patients as they do with their own pets!
We understand that some cats prefer to be examined in the bottom of their carriers, while some prefer to be held close. Some like to explore the room while some prefer to sit quietly in their carriers or on their people’s laps. Some dogs like to be on the table or in someone’s arms, while some prefer to be on the ground. Some pets love lots of kisses and attention, while some do better with very little handling. Some pets need a few extra minutes to get to know us and become accustomed to their new surroundings. We, as Technicians, take all of these things into account with each and every patient we see. Every patient and every situation is unique and we make every effort to adjust to each situation. Does your dog or cat have a special place they like to be scratched? Let us know! Do they prefer a certain type of treat over another? We’re not above bribery, so whatever it takes to make them happy is what we’ll do.
